Stray bullet hits player in Womans baseball World cup

A stray bullet struck a player of Hong Kong during a game played on August 13th. Safety and security isssues are now the main focus.

The games of the Women's baseball World Cup scheduled for August 14th have been suspended. This decision was taken after a stray bullet struck a player of Hong Kong in the lower leg during competition on Friday, August 13th.

The player was treated at the military medical facility for minor injuries. All of the teams and delegations are safely back in their respective hotels.

The Government of the Republic of Venezuela has guaranteed that safety and security measures will continue to be maximized. The Venezuelan Scientific Department is working on compiling a detailed report regarding the incident.

The IBAF is carefully analyzing the situation with the different delegations. Any decision will be taken keeping the security of every person involved in the Women's Baseball World Cup as the main priority.

Revised schedule announced as tournament set to move to Maracay, Venezuela.  After the suspension of games, the IBAF has announced the revised schedule that will see the tournament restart in Maracay Venezuela.The schedule will not include Hong Kong, as they have elected to withdraw from the competition and return home to Hong Kong. The schedule for what will be the 3rd day of play will have two stadiums in operation, "Aviacion" stadium and "Jose Perez C." stadium in Maracay.

All the delegations will be moved to Maracay in conjunction with the games.
